Over the years I’ve worked with some fantastic vendors and one of my favorite florist is Jennifer of
Busy Bee’s Floral Design. I thought it would be fun to interview her and get some insight to her amazing business! If you’re getting married in Northern California and are looking for a florist, I highly recommend her!
What do you do and how long have you been in businesss?
I have been in business since 2016! I mainly offer florals for weddings and smaller events.
How did you start your business? Did you always want to do weddings?
I have always loved working with flowers and had a knack for putting together floral colors and textures and making them work together. When I started my business I never thought I would do weddings, just small events. After I was asked to do my first wedding I realized how much I loved doing flowers on this scale. From the planning with the bride to coming with the final look and then bringing that to life on her wedding day.
What is your #1 tip to brides looking for a florist?
My #1 tip for brides is to trust your florist and let us be be creative! I always say I do my best work when the bride and groom let me have as much creative freedom possible. When this happens I do my best work.
What is your favorite wedding memory thus far?
I don’t think I have one memory that is my most favorite. There is the moment I am walking to the brides room with her bridal bouquet in hand and my heart racing. This moment is my favorite because I get to show her what I have made for her. Her bouquet is the most important part of the flower creation for myself and for the bride. I live for that moment and putting a smile on her face. It is a very special moment.
How would you best describe your style?
My style is whimsical and classic. I like to see lots of movement in my work.
What is the best season to get married in for the best flowers?
Spring is definitely the best time to get married! Every type of flower is in season. I like to use in season flowers which are lower in price and local. I also love the fall because of the darker and moody flower color assortment.
What is one thing you wish all bride’s knew before hiring a florist?
With the world of Pinterest brides have a plethora of pictures at their fingertips. This is wonderful but sometimes sets unrealistic expectations on what the bride can have for their wedding. Flowers are expensive and so much goes into making beautiful arrangements. My number #1tip is to set a realistic budget when planning your wedding. Flowers are a major part of the overall look and feel of your day.
