Dear Lord, thank you for gathering our family together, but please allow us to like each other for an hour or so. Family pictures haven’t ever really been my thing and I really don’t wanna make anyone cry this year, so if you could help me out, that’d be great.
Each year, by some miracle, 33 of us come together as a family to celebrate life, love, and togetherness. It seems the older we get, the harder it is to get all of us in one place. My grandma could herd cats easier than getting her six children and 18 grandchildren to be together at once. But it happens. Oh, by some miracle, it happens. And I wouldn’t trade this time for anything.
After manic directions from me and a few attempts at capturing a photo, we nailed one. Let’s not forget how many times I ran to and from the tripod, but it was worth it to see the smile on my grandparent’s faces. I’m incredibly lucky to have amazing grandparents. They’re selfless, patient, generous, and incredibly kind.
After 60+ years together, my grandpa still lights up my grandma’s smile.
It’s moments like that I wouldn’t trade for the world and the reason I’m honored to capture our memories every year.
