I started my photography business unintentionally. It was a fun hobby and I loved capturing other people. Before I knew it, I was asked to photograph a friend’s wedding. Um what?! I was so nervous and afraid of failure. But I said yes and several months later, successfully photographed my first wedding. Looking back, I cringe when I see the photos. The lack of knowledge and experience I had show in the photos. But back then, I LOVED them. I was so thankful she had trusted me to capture her most valuable memories. And to this day, she thanks me and tells me how much she loves and cherishes the photos of her wedding day.
That was 6 years ago. Today, I think about photographing weddings all the time. I think about the couples I have booked for the rest of the year and dream about what their wedding will be like. I’m thankful for the journey and the creative process that this job provides. But it’s not all easy though. Running a business is hard and definitely has it’s challenges. But during the hard times, I remember what it was like photographing my first wedding and I’m thankful for how far I’ve come.
